Rupiah Struggles as it Falls to IDR 16,319 per US Dollar
Langgam Pos - The Indonesian rupiah struggled to deliver a positive performance in trading on Tuesday, July 30, 2024. According to RTI Business data at 09:30 WIB, the Indonesian currency weakened by 48 points or -0.30%, bringing its exchange rate to IDR 16,319 per US dollar.
In a similar vein, the rupiah also faced challenges against major global currencies. The data reveals that the Garuda currency experienced declines against the Australian dollar (-0.21%), the euro (-0.25%), and the British pound (-0.20%).
When compared with Asian currencies, the rupiah's performance was equally disappointing. It showed a decline against seven Asian currencies and only saw a rise against one.
The rupiah managed to show some strength against the Taiwan dollar with a 0.06% gain. However, it faced significant losses against the Chinese yuan (-0.18%), Hong Kong dollar (-0.24%), Japanese yen (-0.24%), South Korean won (-0.09%), Malaysian ringgit (-0.20%), Singapore dollar (-0.21%), and Thai baht (-0.15%).
